Many Native American cultures believed the Bear had powerful medicine and anyone that had the Bear as a spirit guide was blessed with strength, and self knowledge. Many ceremonies included the Bear, or parts of the Bear as a focal point.
The Grizzly Bear scene in the center of the hoop represents a vision its owner may have received on a vision quest. The hoop is shown wrapped with a buckskin thong with feathers and other highly prized items tied around the outside of the hoop. At the top there is a Medicine Wheel tied to the clump of feathers, Other items tied to the hoop include an Eagle wing bone whistle, an Eagle Foot, braided Sweet Grass, a Sage Bundle, Elk's Teeth, Dew Claws from a Deer, and at the bottom, A Grizzly Claw tied to a Medicine Bundle. If you look close at the Eagle feathers hanging down the sides, there are images of several different animals faintly hidden in the dark feather tips, a Bear, Wolf, Cougar, Eagle, Buffalo and more.

The Indians believed Wakan Tanka (The Great Spirit - our God) had given them the Buffalo as a token of His wisdom and generosity. The Indians of the Plaines were a nomadic people following the great herds from feeding grounds to feeding grounds, living in Tipis that were covered with hides the Buffalo provided. When a Buffalo was killed they gave thanks to their brother the
Buffalo for giving up its life so they may live and prayers went up to The Great Spirit, Wakan Tanka, thanking Him for providing this great beast and giving them a successful hunt.
The Buffalo scene in the center of the hoop represents a vision its owner may have received on a vision quest. The hoop is shown wrapped with a buckskin thong with feathers and other highly prized items tied around the outside of the hoop. At the top there is a Medicine Wheel tied to the clump of feathers, Other items tied to the hoop include an Eagle wing bone whistle, an Eagle Foot, braided Sweet Grass, a Sage Bundle, Elk's Teeth, Dew Claws from a Deer, and at the bottom A Grizzly Claw tied to a Medicine Bundle. If you look close at the 2 Eagle feathers hanging down the sides, there are images of several different animals faintly hidden in the dark feather tips, a Bear, Wolf, Cougar, Eagle and more.

Eagle Spirit
"NOT SHOWN AT ACTUAL SIZE"
Click on image to see larger view.
Native Americans believed the Eagle was a sacred messenger that would carry their prayers to God. The One Above, The Great Spirit, The Creator. When the prayers were delivered the Eagle would return with gifts and visions. Many tribes saw the Eagle as the Spirit Keeper of the East from where the sun rose to illuminate the darkness and bring a new day.
Unlike the Bear, Cougar and the Buffalo designs above, which are visions in a hoop, this Eagle scene is in the center of the shield design. The scene represents a vision that its maker may have received on his vision quest. The shield is wrapped with a strip of cloth lashed in place with a buckskin thong, 2 strips of cloth also hang down from the sides of the shield. Feathers and other highly prized items are also tied to the outside of the shield, a medicine bag in the clump of feathers at the top, a medicine wheel, an Eagle wing bone whistle, cowry shells, an abalone shell disc with Ermine tails, the foot of an Eagle and a scalp lock taken from an enemy in battle.

Wolf Spirit

The Wolf is a great teacher, if you let her she will help you adapt to changes in your life as she has adapted to her ever changing environment. She accepts reality as she sees it and teaches us to
see truth through her eyes. From the time of her birth the Wolf is always transforming as she meets the experiences of her world by embracing the changes and the lessons they bring. She shows us the value of loyalty, adaptation, community, intuition and transformation. She also teaches us to accept the dark side of ourselves but not so much we allow it to control us.
Unlike the Bear, Cougar and the Buffalo designs above, which are visions in a hoop, this Wolf scene in the center of the shield design. Tatanka Spirit
"NOT SHOWN AT ACTUAL SIZE"
Click on image to see larger view.
The Buffalo, or "Tatanka" as they called them, was the main source of Food, Clothing and Shelter for the Indians of the Plains before the American government set out to kill all the Buffalo to get the Indians to submit and move to reservations. They almost succeeded, where there were once herds numbering in the millions, only a few thousand survived. When the slaughter was done the prairie was said to be white with their bones. To the Indians of the Plains the Buffalo symbolized, Strength, Survival, Abundance, Generosity, Courage and giving for the greater good. The Indians only killed when they needed food and they used every part of the Great Beasts. They always thanked the Buffalo for the giving of its life so they could survive and they gave thanks to the Creator, "The Great Spirit" for providing food and shelter. |

TOP QUALITY
My Photo Shop skills aren't the
best, I haven't been able to show the true color of the shirt. They are a very light tan color, this photo is closer to the right color than the photos of the designs.
To insure we have an ample supply of the tan color shirts, we buy 2 different name brands, both of which are recognized for their quality. The shirt you receive will be either a "Gildan" or a "Hanes," both are heavy weight 100% cotton, the material is 6oz whereas the average T-shirts you buy at most stores are only 4oz material. Both of these brands are pre-shrunk so order the size you need, don't figure on much shrinkage at all.

FRAME YOUR T-SHIRT
For those that don't really like to wear T-Shirts but like the art, we now offer our T-Shirt designs on 1/4" thick plywood panels for framing.
You get the same image that's silk screened on a light tan material similar to the T-Shirt material, then with a little artists adhesive we mount them on the plywood panels.
The plywood panels are 16"x20" and will look awesome in a 16"x20" frame with an 11"x14" cut out, or just
mount it in a frame without a matt, it will look just fine
