This design is an American Indian geometric symbol of a butterfly. The life
cycle of a butterfly represented "Everlasting Life." I placed this design on the
teardrop shape to symbolize the tears shed by Cherokee Indians when they were
ruthlessly herded from their homelands in the east to reservations in the west.
Their journey became known as the "Trail of Tears." |
