The inspiration for this drawing was the book "Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee,"
I don't know how anyone could read this book and not have contempt
forefathers. How anyone could treat another human being the way the Indians
were treated is beyond my comprehension. This scanned copy of the print
doesn't show all of the detail contained in the actual print, there's a lot of names
dates, places and events tucked in here and there
that led up to the massacre.
Take a look at the close up below.
If you purchase the print and decide you don't like it, your money will be
happily and promptly refunded, less the shipping cost.
In this drawing, the Hoop represents the "Circle of Life."
On this image you can see what an "Oval Matt"
will look like,
or you can just frame the Picture without a matt and it will
look just fine.
(Not shown at actual size)
This enlarged portion of the drawing doesn't have the best clarity but you can still see a little better what all is going on in the drawing. A sword with the name "Pony Soldier" on the guard and "Stop the Ghost Dance" on the blade. A broken Indian Ceremonial Pipe representing all of the broken promises the white men made with them. The burned out tipi's, the burned out wagon and more. You will have fun finding all of the things that this pen & ink drawing has to offer.
If you find the history of the American Indians interesting, you will love this drawing.
